My name is Maddie Marriott (she/her) and I’m a freelance writer from the Philadelphia area. I’ve been a reader and a writer all my life, and since graduating from Lafayette College, I’ve been hard at work to make it my career.

I first fell in love with journalism while working on my college newspaper where I eventually had the honor of serving as Editor-in-Chief. I write about interesting people doing interesting things, which, to me, is pretty much everything. My favorite stories are ones that make me look at their subjects in a new light.

Outside of journalism, I do all types of writing and writing-adjacent work— I help students write their college application essays, optimize resumes, write copy for websites, generate social media content, and edit/proofread fiction and nonfiction. If what you’re doing involves words, I can help.
